About Us

Woodchuck Lawn and Tree LLC was founded out of a deep respect for the craft of arboriculture—and a refusal to accept the status quo. After more than 15 years in the tree care industry, our founder saw firsthand the problems that had become far too common: employees being taken advantage of, customers being misled, shortcuts being normalized, and professionalism taking a back seat to profit. That experience sparked a decision to do things differently—and to do them right.

That decision became what we call the Woodchuck standard.

We set out to build a company rooted in experience, transparency, communication, knowledge, safety, and efficiency. A company where customers receive honest recommendations, clear expectations, and work performed to the highest professional standards. A company where crews are respected, trained, and empowered to take pride in their work. And a company that raises expectations across the industry—not just meets them.

Originally established in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, Woodchuck Lawn and Tree LLC is now proudly home-based in Bumpass, Virginia. As a small, family-owned and operated business, we take a hands-on approach to every project. Between our leadership and crew, we bring more than 50 years of combined tree service experience to the communities we serve.

Led by an ISA and TRAQ certified arborist, our work is guided by the best practices and ethics of the International Society of Arboriculture. We consistently meet or exceed all osha and ansi regulations, and we approach every job with a focus on safety, education, and long-term results—not quick fixes.

We provide a full range of residential and commercial tree services, including tree removal, precision pruning, stump grinding, tree health assessments, plant health care, traq risk assessments, HOA and commercial property maintenance, and professional utility line clearance perfrmed by experienced line clearance arborists. We also go the extra mile to protect what matters most to our customers, using yard protection mats and careful planning to preserve lawns, landscapes, and surrounding property.

Giving back is a core part of who we are. We are proud to support our community through nonprofit charitable donations, roadway litter cleanups, and local service efforts—and we are always open to ideas on how we can do more. The communities we serve have supported us and helped us grow, and we believe it’s our responsibility to return that support whenever possible.

Founder's Statement

Woodchuck Lawn and Tree LLC was not created to be just another tree service company. It was created as a response to an industry that, for too long, accepted shortcuts, poor communication, and a lack of accountability as normal.

After more than 15 years working in the tree care industry, I saw both sides of it—crews being overworked and undervalued, and customers being misled or sold services they didn’t truly need. I knew there was a better way to do this work. A more professional way. A more honest way. And one that respected both the people doing the work and the people trusting us with their property.

That belief became the foundation of the Woodchuck standard.

As an ISA and TRAQ certified arborist, I believe tree care should be rooted in knowledge, science, and best practices—not guesswork or sales pressure. Every decision we make is guided by safety, transparency, and long-term results. We do not believe in cutting corners, rushing jobs, or compromising standards for the sake of convenience.
